Chinstrap

Most football helmets will come with a cloth chinstrap.
This is strictly to hold the helmet in place and does little to nothing to protect the chin.
Replacement Chinstraps are sold that will protect the chin.
Chinstrap covers or Chin Shields are also sold separately. These provide little padding, but are useful as they are washable and are a cheaper option if the color of the chinstrap is important.
